A child grave cleaner turned filmmaker, Alyssa Katalyna has haunted the streets of Los Angeles since her graduation from the USC’s School of Cinematic Arts with a MFA in Film & Television Production. A lover of mythology, maternal horror, and haunting nature, Alyssa specialized in "the weird".
As a director, her podcast Jack and Lou: A Gangster Love Story starring Lisa Kudrow was a winner of the 2022 Best Audio Fiction Series and Best Ensemble of an Audio Fiction at the Indie Series Awards. Alyssa has also been awarded the prestigious George Lucas Scholarship at USC, was a 2022 NALIP Emerging Content Creators Inclusion Initiative Scholarship winner, multiyear National Hispanic Foundation of the Arts Scholar, and a 2024 Tomorrow's Filmmakers Today Fellow and a Starz Writers' Intensive 2024 Fellow. She is currently a finalist for the 2025 Sundance Cultural Impact Residency and a semifinalist for the 2025 Humanitas New Voices Fellowship.
Alyssa is currently producing "ChikaBOOM!", the 2023 R&D Innovation Grant winner of the Entertainment Technology Center of the University of Southern California. Her other projects she has produced have also been the recipients of multiple grants and accolades including the American Pavilion's Best Emerging Filmmaker Documentary at Cannes 2024, Jury Award at the 28th DGA Student Film Awards, Epic Unreal Mega Grant, and the Rideback Rise Creative Development Grant.
